Hoax Invoices
Be careful when opening “hoax invoice” emails and even if you think they are from people you know.
This was a hoax email that went to a customer and looked like it was from a legitimate email account.
“Thanks for the mail.
To download your payment information and pay your invoice click here:
https://kerryj.com/VPUF743757/ We will be happy to assist you if you have any questions about the attached invoice. Sincerely,”
DO NOT CLICK THE ABOVE LINK (OR COPY AND PASTE IT ANYWHERE) – SHOWN AS AN EXAMPLE ONLY
The way you can tell this was a hoax, is the link its sending you to. It had nothing to do with the customer, but I have seen ones that look like they are real links.
They are trying to catch you when you are busy, so ALWAYS read emails twice and double check!
The scammers are getting better and now using similar domain names to the ones that the email is from. Would you notice if this email came from purehostiing.co.uk?? did you notice the 2 “i” in the domain name?
If you are still unsure and are one of our customers, just forward the email to us and we will check it out for you.
